Cell phone charm

I actually made this before Christmas but am just getting around to showing off a picture of it. A former coworker of mine contacted me and asked if I would make a cell phone charm for a relative of hers as a present. I had made one for her as a going away present when she left where we worked and she loved it. I really like how it turned out. Where you see the square soldered charm I have blocked the personal information but it had the person's name on the front and her phone number on the back.

Priceless!

My husband Greg left yesterday for London on business. He'll be gone a week, and today my son Gabe and I find ourselves taking it easy. While I was perusing around on my laptop, I found this picture that I had downloaded from Gabe's flash drive of a trip he took to the WWI museum here in Kansas City with my brother, David. Tanks and airplanes, guns and helmets usually bore me so I had not looked thoroughly through the pictures when I came upon this. Gabe says he must have been talking when my brother took the picture. His expression is priceless!

With the husband gone, I needed something to make me smile.

First finished project of the year!

Whew! This pillow is my first finished crafty project for the year! It was inspired by a pillow I saw on http://www.jonathanadler.com/ , a very mod needlepoint, named Bargello Diamonds. Well, knowing that my wonderful husband Greg would not allow us to purchase a pillow for $110, I decided I would try and make a close copy. I used plastic canvas instead of needlepoint canvas for the front, to make it easier. The back of the pillow is brown wool felt and I attached the two pieces together with brown yarn using the blanket stitch. The finished size is 6x6. Enjoy!

Happy 2008!

I can't believe the Holiday season is over! All the planning, family, friends and fun--all over! This year I was "very Martha" and had my first homemade Christmas. I made cookies and candy for gifts, a stocking for my son and niece, and...big drum roll... pozole and eight dozen tamales (by myself) to serve on Christmas Day for all of my husband's and my family. The tamales not only looked good but tasted good too! At least that's what everyone told me...he he.

Welcome!

I'm just getting things setup, so nothing much to say at the moment. Please check back as I will be sharing my thoughts and ideas once I get my blog space configured.
